Pop-Up Noise: The Great Singapore Replay is holding an Open Call and we want you to participate! The first-place winner will get to perform alongside our Emerging and Established artists at the 9 September 2017 showcase.

All participants will also be entitled to attend a Music Performance Workshop conducted by homegrown musician and producer, Tim De Cotta, on 26 August 2017.

The workshop will focus on stage performances and create a space for different musicians to share experiences when it comes to preparing for performances. More details can be found on Playing Soon.

How to Participate:
  1. Choose an original song - in any of Singapore’s four official languages - released by a Singaporean artist, between the 1960s and 2000s.
  2. Record a video of yourself doing a cover of the selected song.
  3. Post your cover on YouTube, titling it as “(Cover) <name of the original song>” and credit the original artist in your description.
  4. Share the YouTube video on Facebook in a public post and:
    1. Tag Noise Singapore.
    2. Hashtag #TGSRCovers and #TGSR2017.
    3. Credit the original artist.
  5. Open Call Period: 10 July - 14 August 2017.

Entries will be judged according to Content, Execution and YouTube Views, by a panel of three judges. Three individuals will stand to win cash prizes and the first-place winner will also get to perform at the Pop-Up Noise: The Great Singapore Replay.

Winners will be announced on Noise Singapore’s Facebook by 26 August 2017.

The Judges

The Open Call will be assessed by a panel of three judges. These judges were selected for their extensive musical experience, as well as their familiarity with the local music scene.

  • Ruth Ling | Red Roof Records Honours graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music and winner of the National Arts Council’s 2013 Young Artist Award, Ruth is an accomplished producer, director, and performer who has toured with the biggest names of Asian pop in the last decade. In 2012, she founded Red Roof Records, where she nurtures local talent till this very day.
  • Tim De Cotta | Getai Group An established vocalist, bassist, songwriter and producer, Tim is a highly sought-after sessionist who has played, written, produced, and recorded with many popular local artists. Releasing his debut album earlier this year, Tim is also a founding member of creative arts curation agency Getai Group.
  • Wu Jianping | Noise Singapore As an arts administrator for the National Arts Council, Jianping has been the main music programmer for Noise Singapore over the past five years. Jianping is also the drummer for award-winning Singapore indie band King Kong Jane, and has released a full length album, and performed at various venues and major festivals in Singapore, including Baybeats Festival and Mosaic Festival.
